Institutional Program Review Committee (IPRC)

Mission Statement

The Institutional Program Review Committee (IPRC) recognizes the need for a process that encourages meaningful review of relevant data that appropriately reflects program/unit performance along with stated standards and encourages robust planning to improve, expand, and/or maintain programs/units.

IPRC is responsible for formulating and recommending to the appropriate committees any policies and procedures related to the Program Review and Planning process and its associated standards, in cooperation with other governance committees (as required), and for ensuring incorporation of student learning and service outcomes assessment into the institutional Program Review and Planning process. IPRC is also responsible for assisting in the execution of the Program Review and Planning process, supporting the quality of program/unit reviews, regularly assessing the effectiveness of this process, and seeking feedback to ensure that the process supports programs/units and meets the rigor of accreditation standards.

BP/AP 3250 - Institutional Planning (joint with Budget & Planning Committee (BPC))
AP 4102 - Career and Technical Education (joint with Courses & Programs Committee (CPC))

Responsibilities

Establishing and revising college-wide program review standards and processes;
Creating and implementing the process for academic program review validation;
Creating and implementing the process for nonacademic program review validation;
Incorporating Core Competencies into instructional program review (jointly with AAC) and both Core Competencies and Service Area Outcomes (SAOs) into support and hybrid program review;
Incorporating Administrative Unit Outcomes (AUOs) into support program review.

Co-Chairs

Co-chaired by a faculty member appointed by the Academic Senate President, and an administrator appointed by the Administrative Committee. The Faculty Co-Chair may serve for 3 years, with the possibility of a one-time renewal. No term limits on the Administrative Co-Chair.

Composition

IPRC is comprised of sixteen members, each selected by the appropriate representative committee and ideally representing all program review categories (instruction, support, and hybrid program units):

Seven faculty members (including the co-chair, one associate, and the outcomes assessment coordinator)
Four administrators (including the co-chair)
Four classified staff members
One student

Terms

Faculty, classified, and student members serve for 2-year appointments, renewable twice for a maximum of six consecutive years total. Administrative members have no term limits.
