Umoja Ongoing Weekly Events
- Umoja Village Hour Thursdays from 12:00PM - 1:00PM PST in the Aztlan room in building OCN 3400.
Village Hour is a space for students to connect with each other, engage in workshops, connect with the Umoja Community counselor and meet with an Umoja Community staff member and get connected to resources, services, or student support needs.
Umoja Fall Events
- Umoja Conference (November)
Selected students will travel to Northern or Southern California for a 2-day conference. This is an important personal and professional growth opportunity to hear from amazing speakers and participate in outstanding workshops.
Umoja Spring Events
- Black History Month Events ()
The Student Equity Department supports the planning committee that consists of faculty, staff and students that exist across the college. This committee puts on black-centered events and activities throughout the month of February. - United Black Student Conference (April)
The United Black Student Conference is a student led-endeavor created to heighten collaboration between Oceanside Unified School District schools through Afrocentric workshops, ‘edutainment’ and opportunities to connect with the larger community. - Umoja Regional Symposia (March)
The Regional Symposium, is a transformative Umoja event that serves as a dynamic platform for collaborative learning and growth. The event encompasses a rich array of activities, including workshop sessions, engagement with four-year universities, connection to the African Diaspora, cross-regional support, and alliance building. - Rites of Passage Graduation Ceremony (May)
The Rites of Passage ceremony commemorates the accomplishments of any Umoja Student who has completed a certificate program, associate degree or transfer goal.
