Military Withdrawal (MW)
Members of an active or reserve military service in the Unites States who receive orders compelling a withdrawal from a course or courses will be permitted to withdrawal at any time during the session. Upon verification of such orders by the Director of Admissions and Records, a withdrawal symbol (鈥淢W鈥�) may be assigned after the 10 percent deadline of a session.
Military withdrawal shall not be counted in progress notice and/or progress separation calculations. Excused withdrawal shall not be counted toward the permitted number of withdrawals or counted as an enrollment attempt. In no case will a military withdrawal result in a student being assigned a failing grade.
A student who requests a change from any grade to a Military Withdrawal (MW) must submit proof of orders compelling a withdrawal of courses to the Director of Admissions and Records.
Excused Withdrawal (EW)
A student who requests a grade change from an evaluative symbol to a "W"
(Withdrawal), an 鈥楨W鈥� (Excused Withdrawal) or "NR" (No Record) must submit their
request in writing to the Committee on Exceptions. Such requests must be made within
three years of the date when the grade was posted. The Committee on Exceptions will
consult with the instructor of record, review deadlines, and examine extenuating
circumstances. Approved changes will be submitted to the Admissions and Records
Office through a grade change form approved by the instructor and chair of the
Committee on Exceptions.
Students who are using GI Bill庐 benefits should discuss their options with a Veterans Counselor or a Veterans Services team member before submitting a request for an EW grade to the Committee on Exceptions. EW grades can result in a debt owed to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the full amount of tuition & fees, book stipend, and housing allowance for each course where an EW grade is received.
