
About Hunger & Homelessness Awarness Week (2025)
Join us for Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week to learn more about the issues and resources that address hunger and homelessness. Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week occurs during November.
The events organized by the CARE (Campus Assessment, Resources, & Education) Team will be starting Tuesday, November 11th- Thursday, November 13th for our kickoff week and from Monday, November 17th- Saturday, November 22nd for a full week of events in collaboration with many Student Services Departments and off-campus community organizations to focus on advocacy, education, fundraising, resources, and service.
Opportunities for Staff & Faculty Participation / Attendance
- USE our to encourage participation and bring awareness to events happening during the scheduled week.
- ATTEND our Film Screening in collaboration with the Ethnic Studies Department on Monday, Nov. 17th to watch the documentary about Maria Moreno, a migrant mother and leader of an early movement for Farmworker Justice. Afterward, reflect on what you watched during our Q&A Panel following the film. .
- VOLUNTEER your time by for any of the events occurring during the programming weeks:
- ENCOURAGE students to participate, whether this be offered as an extra credit assignment or an opportunity to build community and raise awareness. We would appreciate you promoting these events. Most events will offer free food and multiple opportunity drawings to win gift cards that support basic needs for food, technology, books, and more!
Student attendees will be entered in multiple opportunity drawings for giftcards supporting basic needs as well as receive free swag and food! Students who attend three or more "opportunity drawing eligible" events will be entered into a grand opportunity drawing for a $100-$250 gift cards.

Donation Drive - Clothing Needed
For the month of October, we are collecting new or gently used clothing donations for our student thrift shop event happening in November. Staff, students & community members welcomed to donate. Last day to donate is October 31st.
Drop Off Locations:
- Basic Needs Center (OC14107): 8am-7pm Mon-Thu & 8am-3pm Fri
- CLC Welcome Center (CLC 300): 9am-6:30pm Mon-Thu & 9am-12pm Fri
